We have been using Grasshopper for 5 years. We use Grasshopper as a complete substitute to commercial fertilizer. We primarily use Grasshopper 30-8-10 and the 19-19-19 or 46-0-0 in certain circumstances. We sell 5,000 to 10,000 round bales per year. Our customers range from the Texas panhandle to Florida. Lowering our fertilizer costs has lowered our hay prices. With lower hay prices, we’re able to pocket higher profit margins on a good year and compete on price during a bad year (when others are stuck with last year’s hay). We also spray our horse and cattle pasture monthly using Grasshopper as a supplemental feed. Our soil quality has remained stable during this period.
